The Calgary Sun
photo internship | Calgary, Alberta | may 2014 - June 2014
The Calgary sun is a publication run out of Alberta, Canada. After graduating from Northern Arizona University, I made my way north to gain some experience in the everyday journalism world. I was with the Sun as a photo intern for just under a month. Photographing various events all over the city of Calgary. Learning quick turn around times for the daily publication, and on location impromptu lighting setups for journalism portraits.
PHOTO Editor - Designer | Flagstaff, Arizona | August 2011 - May 2014
The Lumberjack is the student run newspaper at Northern Arizona University. I began my work with the publication shortly after starting college at NAU. Initially a staff photographer, I climbed the ladder to the role of Assistant Photo Editor for two semesters and then settled into the title of Photo Editor for my senior year of college. My position encompassed photographing everything from sports, spot news, portrait and event photography. Carrying my camera with me at all times. Acting as the role of photo editor, I was in charge of holding multiple weekly meetings for story assignments and review sessions, along with providing semester critiques and pass / fail recommendations to administrators for staff photographers.
