SANDSTONE
A collection of adventures
by Holly Mandarich
SANDSTONE has nine chapters — taking you from the basics of climbing outside Moab all the way to summiting a desert tower in Indian Creek. Part photo essay, part personal manifesto, this 136-page collection explores themes of overcoming fear, the beauty of a desert love story and the spirit of the nomadic climbing community.
SANDSTONE for me was a reclamation and declaration of the magic that the world can be. That there is much to be discovered and that life is worth living. What I’m selling with this magazine is the belief that life can be good.
We need joy to keep going, we need belief that this world is worth fighting for. Without it we give up the good fight. And we can’t be giving up, we can’t be going backwards. My hope is that SANDSTONE can be the fuel.
This publication is my attempt to express what I felt in my heart and soul in the spring of 2025—a testament to the magnificence that life can be when you decide to let the good in.
While I do use AI in my work, no AI was used in the creation of this publication. The words you read are my own.
